Obstructed traffic? Trouble at customs or at the port? Human negligence? These can all lead to cargo delays. If you want satisfied partners and customers, it is important to minimize the possibility of delays.

The post What are the reasons of cargo delays? Here are the 7 most common causes first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

A delayed cargo can be very annoying. If the customer or partner does not receive the ordered goods on time, the trust in the company suffers a huge loss. What could be behind these delays? We have identified the most common causes and possible solutions.

# 1 Slow and difficult traffic

Road closures due to construction work or unexpected accidents can significantly extend transportation time. In order for the shipment to arrive as soon as possible, drivers often use route optimization software. The essence of such programs is to show the best routes that can save time and cost. In order to avoid delays and other disruptions, data is updated in real time.

# 2 congestion in the port or terminal

This usually happens when a huge number of containers arrive at the port, exceeding the specified maximum. This is especially characteristic of transshipment ports, where the turnover of transit cargoes is much higher than import-export. The ship is further forced to wait with the start of operations until the work on previous cargoes is over.

>> Looking for help with maritime transport? Look no further! <<

# 3 Peak periods, strikes and COVID

When planning the transportation process, it is important to take into account peak periods like the days before Christmas or the time of Black Friday promotions. In some countries, strikes can also cause delays (see 2021″ green card strike “in Italy). The virus situation can lead to problems especially in companies that have a limited capacity of workforce or devices and equipment.

# 4 The incorrect and / or incomplete customs documentation of the cargo

In case of international transport the existence and flawless filling of the necessary documentation is essential. Otherwise there is no doubt the cargo will be delayed. This delay is further increased if the authorities decide to carry out an audit and examine the cargo. Compliance with strict customs regulations is essential, so it is very important to have a logistics partner with reliable, up-to-date knowledge.

# 5 Lack of clarity

Here you need to think about such annoying things as illegible handwriting on the waybill. If you know that this can cause complications, do not fill out the documentation by hand. Obviously, you also have to aim for the clarity of the shipping labels. For example, if the paper is damaged, it will make it difficult to read and/or interpret, and the shipment may be lost.

# 6 Using outdated technology

Old, outdated software and age-old hardware pose huge problems for transport companies. The simple reason is that older technologies limit the possibility of integrating new technologies or preventing the access to functions, which could reduce or eliminate shipping delays. That is why, in order to better track shipments, traders are advised to invest into the latest hardware and cloud software. In addition to real-time data, the latter ensures contact between different actors in the supply chain.

# 7 Shortcomings in the necessary tools, equipment

It may happen that even the transportation of the goods from the warehouse is a serious challenge. This is extremely true if you need intermodal transport including road and rail transport. There may be a case where containers are not availablewhich can also lead to delays.

Do you consider the safety of your cargo essential?

Do you have to meet specific requirements such as the strict regulations for transporting dangerous goods?

Maritime transport is a cheap and popular form of transportation. Ports serve as important hubs, facilitating the delivery of goods from A to B on a global scale. Their economic importance is indisputable, since the higher the annual traffic of goods and passengers, the more developed infrastructure and related services are needed. Which are the biggest / busiest ports?

Europe

Out of the 28 EU member states, 23 have commercial seaports. The Port of Hamburg is an important hub for goods trafficking since the 12th century. Container Termial Burchardkai was expanded in 2019 with two more tracks, and the number of container cranes increased from two to four – thanks to the investment it can handle 850 000 TEU yearly.

Other important ports in Europe: Rotterdam (Netherlands), Antwerp (Belgium), Le Havre (France), Trieste (Italy), Felixstowe (England), Algeciras and Valencia (Spain).

Asia

This large continent is home to the world’s largest and busiest seaports. Since 2010, the Port of Sanghai has the largest turnover of goods (42 million TEU in 2018). Managing 1/7 of the world’s total shipping container cargo, the Port of Singapore is also huge and has connections to around 120 ports in 600 countries.

Other important ports in Asia: Laem Chabang (Thailand), Busan (South Korea), Hong Kong (China), Shenzhen (China), Tokyo (Japan), Port Klang (Malaysia).

North America

North America’s largest port is located in Los Angeles and it covers 7,500 hectares and handles 20% of all cargo arriving in the US. If we consider the volume of foreign waterborne cargo, Houston Harbor is the busiest in America. The 32 km long port has more than 200 public and private terminals.

More significant ports in North America: Long Beach (California), New York and New Jersey (East Coast), Seattle-Tacoma (Washington).

South America

146 million tonnes of cargo passes through the Port of Itagui of the Brazilian city of Sao Luis yearly. Over the past few years, the volume of containers has doubled and the number of tonnes handled has tripled. Since 2006, Port of Santos has been the busiest (and most modern) port in Latin America. Almost 50% of Brazil’s foreign trade is conducted here. Until World War II, coffee was the largest export.

Other significant ports in South America: Columbus (Panama), Balboa (Panama), Cartagena (Colombia), Montevideo (Uruguay), Manzanillo (Mexico).

Africa

Nearly 1,000 ships use the South African Port of Durban every month, and thanks to continuous improvements, this number is growing every year. If you look at the number of containers, at the moment the Moroccan Tanger Med is considered the busiest port in Africa (3.4 million containers in 2018).

Other important ports in Africa: Richards Bay (KwaZulu-Natal), Mombasa (Kenya), Port Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), Beira (Mozambique).

Australia

Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Australia is a country of paramount importance in terms of international maritime transport. Port Hedland is the largest container port in Australia and Oceania, it is responsible for handling approximately 452 million tons of cargo annually. In terms of size and turnover the Port of Botany (Sydney) comes third, which is one of the most beautiful natural ports in the world.

Other significant ports in Australia: Brisbane (Queensland), Fremantle (Western Australia), Port Melbourne (Victoria), Darvin (Northern Australia).

Worried about mist, rust and mold generated during maritime transport?

Did you know? Oversized packaging won't just hurt the planet. You can lose significant amounts of money each year if you do not optimise the use of space within the packaging. With a little care, you can reduce your storage and handling costs, transport more products at once, and you will need less packaging. Sounds good, doesn't it?

The post Transporting air can cost you a lot! first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

Reading the title of the article, you’re probably surprised. You’re probably also wondering how all this is possible, if it is. You can be sure that this is not a statement off the wall. We’ll explain why.

$ 46 billion … that’s what companies could save every year.

A global survey conducted among the leaders of 370 companies highlighted the importance of empty space management. Nearly a quarter of the sea containers are empty, because the majority of the products come in oversized packaging. More than one third (34%) of research participants acknowledged that their packages were at least twice the size of the actual product. Now why is this a big problem? It is estimated that getting rid of the empty space in the packaging could leave companies with around USD 46 billion more in their pocket each year. However, a large proportion (almost 70%) of companies do not deal with this problem.

Size-optimized packaging can save you significant amounts

Lighter, smaller packages have a lot more potential than you might think. The data is shocking: a quantity of containers corresponding to 61 million TEU (20 feet long transport unit) are delivered unnecessarily. Think about it: the more efficiently you package your products by optimizing the space and reducing the air in each package, the more goods can be loaded into, for example, a truck or container. Plus, you’re going to need less pallets and cardboard boxes. Consequently, the quantities delivered and the cost implications of storage and handling are also significantly reduced.

A responsible business also thinks about the environment!

The emission of CO2 by transport vehicles puts an enormous pressure on our environment. Among other things, this type of gas is responsible for the greenhouse effect resulting in climate change (persistently higher temperatures). The amount of CO2 could be reduced globally by 122 million tons if more emphasis was given to optimal space utilisation. Another issue that needs to be taken into consideration is the waste generated during transport, which can also be reduced by rethinking packaging solutions. It is not only the primary and secondary packaging that should be considered: large quantities of paper and polystyrene used to fill the empty space are also harmful to the environment, which could be minimised if less space is left in a box. The added bonus is that your environmental and sustainable development efforts will be appreciated by clients, customers and partners.

3 main advantages of packaging with optimized dimensions and design

#1 It allows you to save on expenses.

#2 It does not unnecessarily burden the environment.

#3 It ensures adequate protection of goods.

How can the Strapa-Pack help you with that?

First of all, from our company you can not only order the standard packaging materials and sizes. Our very popular packaging design service can be a safe and cost-effective solution for delivering your products of custom design, size and weight.

If you wish, our expert team will visit your site to assemble the crates and boxes, taking into account aspects such as the perfect protection of goods and optimal use of space.

Carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, space utilisation and noise levels. These are the factors that most affect how each mode of transport promotes sustainable development. Transport of goods by road, rail, sea or air – which is the most environmentally friendly alternative? What do we mean by multimodal (combined) transport?

The post Environmentally conscious freight transport: Multimodal logistics in focus first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

In recent decades, under-considered transport solutions have unfortunately made a significant contribution to climate change and to the drastic deterioration of the state of the environment. Now, in the 21st century companies should be responsible for reducing their carbon footprint. One of the tools is the environmentally conscious delivery of goods. We’ll take a look at the options and help you choose the right one.

>> Something else you can do for the environment – learn the importance of size-optimized packaging. <<

Road and rail transport

Transport of goods by road: About 70% of (domestic) freight transport happens by road worldwide. The average carbon dioxide emissions of a fossil-fuelled lorry with an internal combustion engine is 0,1693 kg per ton-mile. This is a high number, therefore, cannot be classified as a sustainable alternative. It is important to note that delays due to traffic jams can increase this already high number even further. The use of electric vehicles for the transport of goods seems to be an obvious solution for which there is a growing interest from companies.

Rail freight transport: the average CO2 emissions of a freight train is 0,1048 kg per ton-mile, so it offers a more sustainable option to road transport. In addition, with regard to fuel and energy use it is four times more efficient as the aforementioned mode of transport. However, strong noise pollution is also a disadvantage in case of this mode of transport. The share of rail in global freight transport is around 15-20%.

Maritime and air transport

Transport of goods by sea: it has the lowest average carbon dioxide emission, which is 0,0403 kg per ton-miles but at the same time, there are other pollutants, greenhouse gases, the existence of which must also be taken into account. Although we are talking about one of the most cost-effective modes of transport, due to long transit time some companies often find it less attractive.

Air freight transport: 0,8063 kg of carbon dioxide per ton-mile, so air transport is not the most environmentally friendly way to deliver goods from A to B. For shorter distances, road or maritime transport may prove to be a better choice.

Multimodal logistics in focus

The combination of different transport options is often not only a more sustainable but also a more efficient alternative. There is no need to deal with multiple transshipment and complex administration, since the goods are in the same transport unit (e.g. containers, lorries, trailers). The backbone of multimodal (Combined) solutions is rail transport and shipping.

The aim is primarily to reduce road transport distances and to replace air transport with heavy environmental loads. It is no coincidence that the European Union called it its mission that by 2030, 30% of road freight transport of more than 300 kilometres need to be done by rail and/or shipping. However, the problem is that 90% of the domestic trailers and semi-trailers are not suitable for cranage. The French Lohr system offers a good solution for this. It is a railway wagon with a special design and a convertible interior.

The future of green, environmentally conscious logistics is clearly the development of combined transportation and the exploitation of its potentials. Combining different transport sectors can increase energy efficiency while making sustainability feasible.

Maritime transport is one of the most cost-effective forms of transport - if long delivery time is not a problem, it is an excellent solution. However, special care must be taken with regard to packaging, as the goods can easily move or be damaged by high humidity in a short period of time. If you know the most common risk factors and are properly prepared for them, you won't face any unexpected annoyance.

The post Importance of sea packaging – What are the risk factors? first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

We have already mentioned the dangers of extreme high humidity (see article on container rain). However, this is not the only risk factor to be taken into account if you choose the cost-effective maritime transport. Probably the last thing you want is to be unable to file a claim for damages due to improper packaging. The basic requirement of sea packaging is to guarantee protection even against external mechanical impacts.

In which cases should you choose the popular maritime transport?

In choosing the ideal mode of transport, the most important factors are time and budget. If speed is less relevant, maritime transport may prove to be a good idea, as it is a cost-effective form of transport. In containers, goods of any type can be loaded. In case of Higher volume / heavier shipments (e.g. machinery, passenger cars), this is the most logical decision. In terms of economic efficiency and sustainability, (see article on sustainability) maritime transport is far superior to other modes of transport… but only if you want to deliver large quantities from A to B or if the destination country is far away.

Risk factors of maritime transport

The movement and moving of goods

You have to take account of the fact that the vessel is heaving and surging on its way, especially if the weather conditions are not very favourable. In the course of maritime transport, there can be several occasions where transshipping of goods may be required. When lifting and moving the contents of the container with forklifts or portal cranes, they are subject to strong mechanical impacts. Therefore, sea packaging must be carefully planned! If there is too much free space or the cargo weight is distributed unevenly in the container, there may be unforeseen consequences!

Long transit time, unpredictability

Maritime transport is much slower than other modes of transport. It could take weeks for the goods to reach their destination. Tracking the shipment is cumbersome especially if routes and timetables need to be changed. “Better Late Than Never!” – This phrase in logistics, unfortunately, does not hold up under any circumstances. If the ship is delayed due to a major storm or overcrowding in the ports, it may result in additional costs (for example, due to extended storage times).

Because a lot of time goes by from the start of delivery to final delivery, it is even more important to use proper packaging.

Safe and resistant sea packaging – 5 simple tips

#1 When using consolidated containers you don’t know what cargo you’ll be sharing your space with. In such cases, it is particularly important to use strong (5 or 7 layers) cardboard boxes in perfect condition.

#2 In case of FCL transport weight should be evenly distributed on the floor. Make sure that the entire area of the container is covered.

#3 Correct packaging and labelling draws the attention of the handling staff to restrictions on cargo (e.g. no stacking).

#4 The packaging and space-filling, padding materials must be moisture resistant.

#5 A good solution for stable support of the shipment is the inflatable dunnage bag, which eliminates empty spaces.

Would you like to learn more about safe sea packaging?

Would you buy massive cardboard boxes and high-end space-filling materials?

Do you need help to secure your cargo in containers?

Road transport by trucks today faces serious challenges. It's time to rethink logistical processes and switch to a more cost-effective method.

The post International rail freight transport (combined with shipping)- Can it replace trucks? first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

Due to the possibility of speed, unbound track and door-to-door delivery, many have chosen the popular road transport to transport their goods abroad. However, we are now facing new challenges: fuel prices are skyrocketing, AdBlue is in short supply, and it is very difficult to find a driver. Could rail freight transport possibly replace trucks?

More about the current problems of road transport

The transport of goods by road has been almost completely impossible in recent weeks, and it will probably get even worse later.

Fuel prices are skyrocketing

The reason for the incredibly high petrol price of HUF 500 and above is primarily due to the increase in demand after the pandemic, the drastic weakening of the Hungarian Forint and the global increase in energy prices. The latter can be explained by the need for a lot of energy to refine gasoline. As of 15 November, the government decided to put an end to this rise however, the fixed maximum price of HUF 480 applies only for the next 3 months and only for specific types (95 petrol and diesel).

RECENT UPDATE –There is a restriction in force from 30 July 2022 that only privately owned vehicles can be refueled at the discounted official price. This means that carriers have to calculate with gasoline prices at around HUF 700 per liter.

We are almost out of AdBlue additive

AdBlue is an important additive for newer diesel cars with SCR systems and trucks. Without it, it is impossible to meet the requirements for low emission levels. If the tank is empty, the electronics will be disabled after a while, and the vehicle simply does not start. Due to the European energy crisis or the 70% increase of the world market price for natural gas the manufacturers have switched to “saving mode” and AdBlue has become a niche. This is mainly a problem in (foreign) freight transport where frequent filling of the additive is required.

RECENT UPDATE – although the situation seemed to be resolved for a while, AdBlue shortage is expected to reoccur in autumn 2022. The main reason for this is that due to the high gas prices, the Slovakian chemical company Duslo Sala plans a temporary shutdown in manufacturing, which would endanger the supply of the entire region.

More and more drivers are missing

In spite of the high wage, trucking is an unattractive profession for the current youth. Tivadar Árvay, spokesperson of Hungarian Road Transport Association said in an interview he gave to Portfolio: Currently there are about 130 thousand drivers working in Hungary, most of them representing the age group of 40 and 50. They will retire early but there is no one to replace them. In addition, many people go abroad, especially to Great Britain, where there is a serious driver shortage so extremely high wages can be expected in this field.

The future of international transport: rail freight transport

The main advantage of rail freight transport over road transport is that wagons can transport higher quantities to bigger distances. Rail transport is fast and reliable, the least affected by weather conditions and traffic jams. Trains burn substantially less fuel per ton-mile than trucks, thus offering a more economical and at the same time more environmentally friendly alternative.

There is no need for an additive or a private driver to deliver the goods from A to B.

International rail freight transport (combined with shipping)

It’s no coincidence that there is a growing tendency for switching to multimodal transport solutions (LINK: MULTIMODAL) worldwide – the main reason for this is that the advantages of different modes of transport can be combined without the need for excess management. Combining rail and river (short sea) transport is currently the cheapest International method of transporting goods. Containers can be seamlessly transferred to the ferry without the need for multiple loading and unloading.

Is it difficult for you to cope with the new challenges of freight transport? If you have the possibility consider using a different mode of transport other than the expensive and complicated road transport! Re-think your logistical processes with great opportunities for rail and multimodal transport solutions.

As we also prepare goods for rail transport we try to keep up with new happenings and changes. Such is the reconstruction of the Hungarian section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line nr.150. Another reason why we are concerned is that the line is also passing through Dunaharaszti- the main factory unit of our company, Strapa-Pack Kft. can be found here. We gathered the most important information without bias.

What is exactly happening?

In 2014, the government decided to develop domestic transport infrastructure – in the hope of increasing Hungary’s economic competitiveness. The aim of the project under Serbian–Hungarian–Chinese cooperation is to upgrade and increase the capacity of the Hungarian stretch – from Soroksár to Kelebia – of the nearly 140-year-old railway line.

The rail line would serve as the primary route for Chinese goods transported from the Greek port of Athens-Pyreus to Europe. With this investment the government would also like to contribute to the climate targets of the EU – that is, to reduce carbon dioxide emission by 90% by 2050, one of the means of which is to prioritise rail transport over less environmentally friendly modes of transport.

The Budapest-Belgrade railway line – When and how will the development take place?

The winning consortium was announced in 2019 (the winner from the Hungarian side is RM International Zrt.), planning and licensing started in July 2020. The completion of project is expected by 2025, the financing would be covered by Chinese loans – 85% and 15% own contribution.

The single-track line is being replaced by two tracks, new station buildings, pedestrian crossings and car parks are being installed, and the allowed speed limit will also be increased. Freight trains can move with 225 kN axle load on the new track.

As we can read on the official website of the government: By the development of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line we also develop Hungarian national economy, Hungarian green transport technology, and Hungarian-Chinese and Hungarian-Serbian relations…”

The railway line in numbers

The total expected cost is estimated to be HUF 750 billion[1]

Total length of section :339 track km

The Hungarian section is more than 150 kilometers long

Maximum speed is increased to 160 km/h for passenger traffic

188,000 square meters noise protection wall will be built

Increased, 55 cm platform height for reduced mobility

Up to 740 metres long freight trains can be accepted by stations

It is estimated that the current 8-hour journey time between Budapest and Belgrade can be reduced to 3 1/2 hours [2]

Where’s the project now?

15/10/21 – The preparatory works, and in a solemn manner the symbolic laying of the foundation stone also took place at Kiskunhalas station on 15 October 2021. Over the next few weeks, months, the task will be to transport and store the necessary materials, to develop the depot and to make the area suitable for dismantling the old track. Working does not affect rail transport, the trains will continue to run according to the regular, officially published timetable and no disruption is expected either in case of rail freight transport (although no official communication has been issued by the government in this regard).

02/01/22 – The contract for the construction of the northern section (Ferencváros station-Soroksár) was concluded on January 2 2021. The winner of the public procurement tender of The Chinese-Hungarian Railway Nonprofit Ltd. is FeSo Consortium. The necessary funding for the implementation of the subproject is not yet available.[3]

The final construction plans of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line will expectedly be completed by 2022. April-May and major works will begin in August after the construction of the Szeged-Subotica line.[4]

On the Kiskunhalas-Kelebia section, from the first of August, the competent authorities ordered a complete exclusive track closure due to the demolition and modernization of the tracks. [5]

A new phase is expected to be renovated in the short term. In addition to the modernization of the railway line on the NIS–Dimitrovgrad–Bulgarian border, it is planned to build a new, second track on the single–track section between Stalać–Đunis. [6]

In the light of the above data, it is clear that this is the largest domestic railway investment to date. As there are other alternatives to the Greek port of Pyreus to transport Chinese goods to Western Europe, some doubt the legitimacy of the development from the point of view of economic recovery.

At present, only rough estimates have come to light as to how many years the project will take to bring in a substantial amount of money. We look forward to the outcome.

The post Safe and cost-effective air transport – This is how you should prepare your shipment! first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

Air transport is one of the most popular and cost-effective forms of transport. It is the best option if we want to ship goods of smaller size but of higher value to a faraway country within a short period of time.

3 main advantages of air transport

# 1 speed

This is the fastest mode of transport compared to maritime, road or rail transport. A cargo plane can travel up to 1000 km per hour, so the cargo may reach its destination within a few hours.

# 2 reliability

Airlines generally adhere strictly to their schedules. If it is important that your partners get their goods on time, you should choose this mode of transport!

#3 traceability

Based on the flight number, it is easy to determine when the plane is expected to reach the destination country. Some companies provide an online application to keep track of cargo status.

What criteria should be met?

Even though precise machines carry out the movement of the goods, care still should be exercised. As with all modes of transport, the most important thing here is that the goods stay safe from injury during transport. The perfect air packaging is able to protect the goods from the risks of impact and injury. Due to stronger acceleration or turbulence, the cargo can be exposed to increased dynamic stress.

We are talking about a combined transport strategy, where the conditions for air and road transport must be met to the maximum! The freight rate is largely determined by the weight of the cargo – this factor should also be taken into account when selecting the packaging material.

When it comes to the transport of dangerous goods (LINKEL VESZÉLYES ÁRU CIKK), you need to be even more careful about the packaging materials and the packaging solutions used!

> > Do you need further advice? Please read this article. <<

(LINKEL 01-ES CIKK LÉGI ÁR USZÁLLÍTÁS)

Types of packaging used in air transport

Cardboard box

Even if there is no visible damage to the box, it is not recommended to reuse it. External factors such as moisture or high humidity reduce the tensile strength of the packaging material. In order to guarantee absolute safety it is advisable to use light filling materials, for example bubble wrap. During the preparation of your cargo for transport, use only as much material as necessary to fill the box and to the optimal protection of the shipment!

Wooden crate

Wood packaging material – due to the risk of fire – should always have a plus protective layer, which also increases wear resistance. With their help, you can easily transport heavy machinery. Wooden crates are available in both standard and custom sizes.

> > We know how to save on packaging costs!

Special lightweight wooden crate (LINKEL 07-ES CIKK) from Strapa-Pack << < <

Air cargo pallets

It is important that pallets undergo the appropriate heat treatment and are fitted with the official IPPC stamp! A EUR pallet can weigh up to 25 kg so during this type of transport custom-sized and constructed palettes might be better options.

Finally, some good advice for stress-free air transport:

Always clearly label the shipment

Complete the commercial invoice

If dangerous goods are involved, use qualified packaging and ensure that the appropriate labels are visible

Dangerous goods are a special category, the transport of which requires special attention. The post Transport of Dangerous Goods: What kind of packaging material is the best to choose? first appeared on Strapa-Pack Packaging Ltd..

The Transport of Dangerous Goods is the most complex sector of packaging technology. If the packaging material is not selected properly, or if we do not pay attention to the presence of necessary labels and accompanying documents, we can most certainly face a large fine – not to mention serious damage or personal injury caused by our negligence.

The definition of dangerous goods

Substances, objects and products that, in some way, pose a threat to the external environment, personal health or safety. Would you have thought that things seemingly as harmless as … nail polish remover, dry ice, cell phone with lithium batteries or aerosol whipped cream are all considered as dangerous goods? It is important to know which hazard class does our product to be shipped belong to (for example, toxic, infectious, flammable substances) … Depending on this, it will be possible to determine what type of transport, packaging and labelling will be required.

Essential requirements for packaging

The appropriate packaging of dangerous goods therefore depends primarily on the hazard class and the physical properties of the product. Take a simple example: as corrosive substances react strongly with metal, such packaging should be avoided! There are so-called packaging groups, which puts the products in very, medium or less dangerous categories – it also determines the nature of the packaging and the mandatory information to be included!

Whether it is rail, road or air transport, compliance with the rules and caution should be exercised. The protective packaging, inner packaging must also meet strict requirements, and should not react to the goods to be transported! The packaging must be sealed in such a way that the consignment can’t get out to the cargo space, or worse, to the external environment.

Packaging suitable for the transport of dangerous goods

Depending on the vehicle, the Transport of Dangerous Goods can be in simple (for example, wooden boxes, bags, barrels and cans) or complex, combined packaging (box with lining, multiple cans in one box). What’s really important is that in any case, certified packaging should be used, i.e. those that have undergone the necessary tests, such as cumulation, dropping, sealing and resistance to pressure. These will be carried out by Technical Safety Oversight. If everything is in order, the packaging will receive the UN seal. In addition to the UN number, the packaging must bear the appropriate labels indicating the hazard class/packaging group or the nature of the hazard and the handling of the goods.

How can Strapa-Pack help you?

It all starts here: high-quality floor and side wall linings

It can be any great car furniture in the car, but if the floor slips or as a result of an unexpected accident, the bodywork dents, it means that the cargo space does not meet your needs 100%. And where there’s damage, sooner or later, rust will form. Safety and practicality inside the vehicle starts with quality cargo lining.

Non-slip floor lining that can be installed in no time.

The first step in lining a van is to plant the floorboard, which is a lot easier than you think. Our 9 mm plywood Van-Pack floor linings guarantee a high level of safety. Thanks to the extra sound absorption insulation, your cargo space will be soundproof. Its installation using the original fitting elements shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes and it doesn’t require any special skills.

Sidewall lining, which reduces the risk of injury to almost zero

You can order the Van-Pack sidewall lining from traditional plywood, from cellular-structured polypropylene which is heavy duty and easy to clean and from super resistant premium fiberglass. You don’t have to worry anymore, all the bodywork will be protected from floor to roof! Each interior lining is perfectly customized to the specific type of the van.

Cargo lining with extras: drum guard

Perfect protection against corrosion and other external impacts. The wheel drum will not break, deform or rust. We went further with the idea, and we’ve also developed a special wheel drum guard which is suitable for loading, thereby increasing the usable space in the cargo area.

Van equipment – Smart cargo securing solutions

Shape the interior of your van according to your needs! The need for cargo securing is indisputable. If the shipment gets loose, it could damage the vehicle and cause an accident. Clamping rods, hooks and holders: we offer solutions for different load capacities that are perfectly adapted to the weight and nature of the cargo. Tie-down rails are often installed to the sidewall of the van.

Some thoughts on van workshop

Van workshop mostly includes the different, individually installed shelves, cabinets, storage compartments and workbenches. With their help, you can build a mobile workshop inside your van. They are great help primarily to those who transport a lot of work equipment, machinery or tools (for example, repairing, servicing companies). Systematization will make work processes more efficient and faster. Their material is most often steel or aluminum, so they are very easy to keep clean.

If you want your business to function effectively, a clean and orderly vehicle, practicality and functionality are essential requirements.

Modern and versatile vehicle equipment makes this possible!
